Training Opportunities

California-Pacific Annual Conference Training

The Conference Board of Congregational Development is launching out in a new direction in hopes of providing quality training for clergy engaged in or interested in new church start and/or church revitalization ministries.  The Board will accomplish this with a variety of training opportunities. First is our own Cal-Pac Academies. In this training we bring national church developers to Southern California for intense two-day seminars. Although the Academies are stand alone training events they should be combined for best benefits. (see below). Academies are open to all Cal-Pac clergy (and laity if the training is laity specific) The second training available is the Cal-Pac New Start and Revitalization Institute. The Institute seeks to identify and train Cal-Pac clergy for the challenging task of new church starts and/or revitalizations. More information and an application are further down this page.

Cal-Pac Conference Sponsored Academies

The Board of Congregational Development continues their emphasis of bringing nationally known church developers to our Conference in order to provide the best training at very affordable prices. The goal of these two day academy events is to provide special training for our clergy and laity in the work of planting new congregations, revitalizing current churches and launching new ministries. It could be said that every one of our churches is in need of revitalization or the expertise to launch new ministries reaching new populations. The Board believes these training events could prove helpful for all of our church leaders. Academies are offered in the spring and fall of every year. Rev. Brian Parcel is the coordinator for the Academy Training events. Reach him at  (revbtparcel@aol.com) and/or call Rev. Parcel at (805) 925-9573

School of Congregational Development

School of Congregational Development. This United Methodist training is for church leaders who want to focus on Turning-Around Churches, New Church Starts and High Potential Churches. Plenary sessions, workshops and particular tracts for Local Church Clergy and Laity, Bishops, District Superintendents and Conference Leaders enable leaders to learn key strategies for congregational development in their local churches, districts and conferences. With a focus on developing a strategy for starting new faith communities and building up existing congregations, leaders learn key practices and are given tools for moving their annual conferences and districts forward in the area of congregational development.
